July 20-23, 2006. Mosiacs
of Mary. The Sophia Institute, Charleston, South Carolina. Paula
Reeves, Ph. D. will present the afternoon of July 22:"Do the
Energies of the Magadalen Matter? The Dark Feminine and the Psychic
Immune System.
If our culture suffers from anything today it well may
be the loss of embodied passion and its companion compassion. The quest for
uncovering and recovering the roots of the deep feminine inevitably take
us into matter and an uncovering of both the heart and the soul of our
quest. What the mind cannot fathom the body already knows. What the culture
intellectually resists can sicken us mind, body and soul.
| Until I did this work using an outline
of my own body and facing my feelings about my body by looking into my
own eyes in a mirror I had never been able to stand my body. Now I
am filled with love for this dear friend. Mindful Mirroring
™ is a
profound way to relate to oneself." |
- August 19-25, 2006. Lighting the
Forbidden Lamp. Women's retreat with Paula Reeves,
Candace Loubert and Caroline LeBlanc. Kanuga
Center, Hendersonville, North Carolina. Contact

Friday
evening lecture: Spirituality is neither something we do nor is it something we
can learn to do. Spirituality is a state of being; a state of conscious embodied
knowing. Join us as we explore the nexus between our beliefs and our known
experience, or as the mystics describe it, through our fate and our destiny.
Science is now contributing to the rich alchemistry of what it means to be a
spiritual being living and learning within the confines of a human body. How
real is soul? Science has begun to point out the very neurons that may answer
this question and others that have graced the imagination since humankind first
asked--"Is this all there is?".
Saturday workshop:
MINDFUL MIRRORING: MEETING SOUL IN MATTER
"When you don't know what matters most to you,
that will then become the matter with you."
This exploration will be continued the next day evoking the profound wisdom of
the heart with Sacred Play. Using movement, journals and a variety of
interactive experiences we will learn the many energetic and cellular
differences between males and females and how this contributes to Jung's concept
of the masculine and the feminine and the conundrum we call relationship.
Symptoms and symbols will come alive for us as we explore the multiple languages
of soul--of the psyche via our heart's desires and the symbols of our dreaming
psyche. Please bring your journal, a hand mirror large enough to see your own
eyes, and wear loose comfortable clothing to move in.

and the body at the Jung Institut in Kusnacht. A colleague of Marion Woodman's
for over fifteen years, she leads retreats with Dr. Woodman as a member of the
BodySoul Rhythms Canadian team. Author of two books, Women's Intuition:
Unlocking the Wisdom of the Body and Heart Sense: Unlocking Your
Highest Purpose and Deepest Desires, she has an enduring interest in the
relationship between spirit and matter leading her to work with the metaphors of
both the body and the psyche. She has refined this work as an annual lecturer
with Journey into Wholeness for over twenty-two years. The founder of
Spontaneous Contemplative Movement and Mindful Mirroring™ she
teaches participants in her retreats and lectures how to listen to the wisdom of
the body and follow the directions of the embodied feminine, of soul.
Paula's work in applied psychoneuroimunology has led her to combine her
knowledge of neurobiology and the metaphors of symptoms, dream symbols and
movement into a rich and deeply meaningful personal psychospiritual experience
for each individual. This program will be especially meaningful to anyone working
with a chronic illness or symptom. She will use material from her very
insightful book Heart Sense to open our relationship with the healing
intensions of the heart and the multiple ways the heart "speaks" for the Self. Heart
Sense has been used with Cardiac Recovery Groups as a guide for deeper
healing.

January 21-27, 2007. Lighting the
Forbidden Lamp: Reclaiming My Soul's Birthright. Women's
retreat with Paula Reeves, Candace Loubert, and Caroline LeBlanc. Kanuga
Center, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Over the years I have told four great myths as
teaching tales: Psyche and Eros, Demeter and Persephone, Inanna,
and the Grail Myth from a woman's perspective. these myths are profoundly
metaphoric descriptions of the relationship between the personal unconscious,
the collective unconscious and the ego. They are as pertinent for modern men
and women alike as they were for the cultures they sprang from. Join us and
learn to creatively engage in a conversation between body and soul, between
dreams and the ego, between your heart and your destiny.

"Paula's capacity to allow Aphrodite and Eros to
have their own voices in this myth has taught me more about my capacity to
appreciate the both-and tensions in my life. Candace's deeply intuitive
guidance into movement and play as I listen to what matters in my body gives
me a sense of focus and assurance. Before I began attending these retreats I
believed every choice was a matter of either-or. And now I know that I do not
have to develop a symptom in order to get my own attention"

" No matter how many times I hear Paula tell
this myth she always enters it at a different place and from a different
perspective that speaks directly to a woman's processes and her struggle with
herself and her relationships. Paula's capacity to weave a myth into a teaching
tale is practiced, poetic and memorable." |

This is the sixth year that women from Europe and North America have been
gathering for a week of self exploration as we light the forbidden lamp and
weave together both the inner and the outer landscape by listening to the
myth of Psyche and Eros through movement, Mindful Mirroring™and
BodySoul mapping as we address the issue of our relationship to the literal
father and the inner masculine.

Our Map
Every woman knows that in order to claim her authentic self she must be
willing to light the lamp of intentional consciousness, to look more closely
at life and the choices it offers. In the process we learn that much we
have thought of as difficult may have been lessons from the deep feminine,
teaching us about our soul's strength: teaching us about Sophia's will and
our personal responsibility in choosing to follow Conscious Femininity.
Long before the written word the was already a rich oral tradition of story,
meant to teach the listener how to understand the inner world while
developing the correct relationship between the ego and the Self. In this
retreat we will hear two stories, contrasting versions of the individuating
feminine, each of equal value. One, by CS Lewis, is the story of regret and
the unlived life leading Oural to live a fated existence. The other, by
Erich Neumann, is the story of individuation and courage impelling Psyche to
live a life of conscious choices. Each involves the constant interplay
between the difficult choices of unconscious Fate and conscious Destiny. As
we listen to our dreams, our symptoms, our body, and our
imagination we will follow the differing paths for each of these women and
hear how the fierce call of the feminine, of Aphrodite, summons Psyche and her counterpart Oral to life, ultimately holding each accountable for
her choices in relationship to the masculine. Using dream gathering,
ritual, movement, BodySoul Mapping and
Mindful Mirroring TM
we will invite the deep feminine to teach us how to uncover the twin
energies of unconsciousness and conscious individuation required to ignite
the spark that will light our forbidden lamp and illumine the path toward a
conscious and intentional reunion with the masculine and our
unclaimed life.

Future Plans
In late 2007 or early 2008 Paula is planning
a retreat to four day Residential Retreat to Chartres Cathedral in France.
There the pilgrims will enter into an embodied experience with the labyrinth
and the many images of the sacred feminine that fill the sanctuary and the
crypt. She will teach about the ancient practice of the labyrinth as the
"Intuitive Table" whose radiant magnetic energies "dance" the pilgrim toward
a cellular relationship with the Self.
Paula will return to the Sophia Institute in
Charleston for a weekend bringing the images of Anne, Mary and Mary
Magdalene alive in the bodysoul through movement and self reflection.
Additionally Paula will be producing a CD of
the Eros and Psyche Myth--Lighting the Forbidden Lamp as told in Ireland in
2006. If you have never heard her tell this story from the perspective of
the individuation and growth of the deep feminine and
the creative masculine under the guidance of the primal feminine--of
Aphrodite--you will want to own this CD.
